- Things to be Careful of When Planning the Floor Plan
- Is the utility room big enough?
- Do you have a water meter closet? Outside of building or in building?
- Risers for passing utilities from floor to floor.
- Make sure your stairs work. Refer to Stairs for more information.
- Working out the waterproofing of balconies:
- Do we drop the structure (5.25”) to create a ledge?
- Or do we raise the door to create a threshold?
- Remember to factor in the head heights of your exterior doors and windows, you do not want moving a door up to waterproof to ruin the head height alignment of these elements.
Private Stairs vs Common Stairs, Must Conform to Different Parts of the Building Code
- For Private Stairs, Check:
- Riser Height
- Tread Length
- Winders, Amount and Placement
- Stairwell Width
